TUI NA

Tui na (tweena) massage is a form of massage that has been used in China for centuries. It is a combination of massage, acupressure and other forms of manipulation.

Tui na works by applying pressure to acupoints, meridians and groups of muscles/nerves to remove blockages that prevent the free flow of Qi (chee).

Removing these blockages restores the balance of the Qi in the body, which leads to improved health and vitality.

Tui na works exceptionally well for chronic pain, musculo-skeletal conditions – neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, sciatica and tennis elbow are but a few of the conditions treated. It is also good at rectifying stress related disorders that affect the digestive and/or respiratory systems and can be helpful also for treating headaches, constipation, and pre-menstrual problems.

Tui na is not used as a relaxing massage as it can be quite vigorous but people find benefit from this massage and in some instances can experience feelings of sleepiness.

The tui na massage itself is performed through clothing, but part of the clothing may need to be removed if the practitioner uses a therapeutic massage medium.
