Most health schemes offer a service that requires monthly or annual fees regardless of whether the service is used.  The service offered by A-I-M For Health allows for the employer to provide health care for their employees as needed and payment is per treatment only.

THE COST AND EFFECTS OF EMPLOYEE ABSENCE

Surveys show that musculo-skeletal disorders (MSD’s) and stress account for the most cases of medium and long term absence (8 days onwards). MSD’s include, back pain, joint problems and repetitive strain injuries.

At A-I-M For Health, we have proved that access for employees to a complimentary healthcare provider can help reduce the possibility of both (MSD’s) and stress related absences occurring and where they do occur, reduce the length of absence, benefiting both the company and the employee.

The cost of absence to employers falls into two categories:–

1. The initial cost of paying someone whom is absent
2. The cost in lost production

A third area of cost, less easy to calculate, are employees who are not 100% fit, who come to work but are unable to be 100% productive. (Sometimes called presenteesim).    Studies suggest that this third area accounts for the greater loss.

A CBI survey showed that the average direct cost of absence to employers in 2006, in organisations with less than 50 employees, was £357 per employee per year.

On top of this is the cost of customer relations, where missed or late deadlines occur, plus the damage to morale for both the people who have to try and provide cover for the absentee and also the absentee themselves who may suffer a reduction in income.

Early intervention is seen to offer benefits to both employer and employee in reducing absences with the most effective interventions being those that are proactive, such as providing access to Occupational, Health and Rehabilitation services and also work places strategies, with the emphasis on keeping employees healthy.

This is becoming increasingly important as the ‘blame culture’ continues to spread.

The cost of absences to a business can mount up very quickly. By comparison the cost of avoiding these absences is very small. Not all absences can be avoided, but where they can be avoided, they should be.
